Bassfield beats Enterprise

BASSFIELD – In a battle between Yellowjackets, Bassfield defeated Enterprise in a pair of Region 7-2A basketball games Tuesday night.

In girls’ action, the Bassfield Lady Jackets knocked off the Enterprise Lady Jackets 52-47.

In the boys’ contest, Bassfield overpowered Enterprise to claim a 69-56 victory.

Enterprise will resume action Friday as the Jackets and Lady Jackets invade Liberty to battle the Amite County Trojans in another big region test. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Bassfield 52, Enterprise 47 

Bassfield secured a 30-24 advantage at halftime. Enterprise rallied back to outscore Bassfield 23-22 in the final two periods, but fell short of the comeback attempt.

Enterprise had three players to score in double figures as Carlee Nations led the charge with 18 points. Courtney Greer contributed 11 points, three rebounds and three steals. Michelle Herrington provided 10 points, six rebounds and six steals. Monisha Pendleton scored five points. Eden Ward netted three points

Derria White directed Bassfield with a game-high 25 points. Kendriania Reese chipped in with 10 points. Jaquala Green scored nine points and Azaria Magee had seven points.

Bassfield 69, Enterprise 56

The boys’ game was similar to the girls’ game as Bassfield jumped on Enterprise early in the first period and cruised to a 28-10 lead at halftime.

Enterprise outscored Bassfield 46-41 in the final two frames, but could not overcome Bassfield’s big lead.

Dwayne Pendleton paced Enterprise with 21 points. Jontavious Smith and Darren Richardson netted eight points each. Austin Carter chipped in seven points. Zach Hodges had six points. Cade Feltus finished with two points.

Racheem Booth led Bassfield with 17 points. Gerobe Peters netted 16 points. Mason Sims chipped in 14 points. Caleb McLaurin scored 10 points. Contravis Adams had eight points. Alex Reese ended with four points.

In junior varsity action, Enterprise girls beat Bassfield girls 45-16.

Brooke Foster powered the Enterprise Lady Jackets with 22 points. Kristian Diamond contributed 10 points.

Ah’Lexus Johnson and Kimya Brown were the top scorers for Bassfield with four points apiece.
