He will be remembered as a quiet and modest man, a loyal friend and neighbor, who chose simplicity as a way of life rather than superfluous surroundings.

After graduating from Bogue Chitto High School, he later attended Mississippi State College. He was a WW II Veteran. While serving in the U.S. Navy, he crossed the equator for the first time on Jan. 15, 1945, exactly 71 years prior to his passing.

He retired from the Mississippi State Highway Department where he worked in the capacity of an engineer. Projects took him to several Mississippi towns where he lived for periods of time with most years spent in Natchez. Before he eventually returned to Brookhaven.

Through the years he maintained a loving connection with his nieces and nephews and their children, enjoying their interest, delighting in day-trips, camping and other excursions. His personal interests were music, movies, photography and current events.

Preceding him in death were his parents; H.R. Stringer Sr. and Gertrude Boone Stringer of Bogue Chitto; three sisters, Irma McCaffrey of Bogue Chitto, Nel Nations of Brookhaven and Eunice Case of Brookhaven; and four brothers, Robert Stringer of Brookhaven, Clark Stringer of Jackson, Flavil Stringer of Vidor, Texas, and Quentin Stringer of Jackson.

Survivors are his many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews who deeply loved him and will miss him greatly.
