The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League is making plans for the “Cat’s Meow” Rummage Sale.  The fifth annual fund-raising event is set for March 5 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the former Hudson’s building at Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center located at 204 Highway 51 North in Brookhaven.

For the first time, BARL will offer people an opportunity to shop the night before the big sale.  Shoppers who pay $5 get admission into the sale March 4 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.  There will not be an admission charge on Saturday.

“Anyone shopping Friday night will get a chance at the best items, and the admission price should help us raise money for the BARL animals,” said Rusty Adcock, BARL volunteer.

BARL is asking the public for donations of furniture, household items, tools, etc.  Anyone wishing to drop their items at Hudson’s needs to contact BARL ahead of time.  Call Julie Montalvo at 601-757-1057 or email info@barl.net.  Furniture pick up, if needed, can be arranged.  Items may also be dropped off at the BARL Adoption Center Tuesday – Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We’ve got excited volunteers ready to sort and price items.  We hope people will start their spring cleaning a little early, and donate some things for the sale.  Every penny we make from the sale goes directly towards animal care,” said Adcock.

BARL’s mission is to humanely care for shelter animals while contributing to community activities that reduce pet overpopulation, encourage responsible pet ownership, protect public health and safety, and promote the human-animal bond.

BARL is a nonprofit, volunteer based, limited-admission animal welfare organization serving Copiah, Franklin and Lincoln counties. BARL provides food, shelter and veterinary services for homeless animals until they are adopted.

All BARL animals are vet checked, vaccinated and spayed/neutered.  Dogs are also micro-chipped.

Anyone interested in adopting, contributing, or volunteering should contact BARL at 601-757-4367 or info@barl.net.  Donations are tax deductible and may be mailed to BARL, P.O. Box 3477, Brookhaven, MS  39603.
