Lady Jags blast Northwest Rankin

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars defeated Northwest Rankin 11-1 Tuesday night in fastpitch softball action.

The Lady Jags (2-1), coached by Sonya Wallace, will continue action Thursday as they visit Madison Central. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30.

The Lady Jags dominated the Lady Cougars of Brandon in a five-inning contest. North Pike jumped out to a commanding 8-0 lead after three innings of work, before Northwest Rankin managed to score its only run in the top of the fourth inning.

North Pike would score its final three runs between the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning to earn the win.

Madison Bigner pitched the win for the Lady Jags with four strikeouts and two walks.

Olivia Houston pitched the loss for the Lady Cougars with one strikeout and four walks.

Bigner powered the Lady Jags’ offense with a home run and a single. Janay Maxwell provided two singles. Sarah Brock, Jami Spears, Linley Smith, Baylee Bryant, Jenna Brock and Whitney Howell hit safely.

Katherine Bruner recorded the only hits for Northwest Rankin with two singles.
