Lady Panthers defeat Lady Bulldogs

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers knocked off the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 11-3 Thursday night in fastpitch softball action at the Ole Brook softball complex.
“The girls played really well defensively and we managed to execute really well offensively as well,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “Glad to get the win. Katherine Shell and Madison Thompson pitched really well for us tonight.”
The Lady Panthers (4-0) continue action today as they visit Summit to battle the North Pike Lady Jaguars. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Lady Panthers 11, Lady Bulldogs 3
It was close in the first three innings with Brookhaven leading 5-3, but the Lady Panthers scored six in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the 11-3 victory.
Madison Thompson was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers with one strikeout and two walks in three innings of work. Katherine Shell (3K, 4 BB) pitched the final four innings in relief.
Emilee Wallace suffered the setback in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs with two strikeouts and three walks.
ITia Bussey and Kat Wallace powered the Lady Panthers at the plate with a double and two singles each. Shell contributed two singles. Jadeyn Fuller and Thompson also ripped a pair of singles. Haley Speaks hit safely.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-5) were led at the plate with a single each from Chasney Green, Jayde Haller and Wallace.
In junior varsity action, Brookhaven defeated Franklin County 13-6.
Savannah Frith (1K, 2 BB) and Katlyn Smith (2K, 1 BB) pitched for the Lady Bulldogs.
Rileigh Allen (0K, 3 BB) and Fuller (0K, 1 BB) pitched for the Lady Panthers.
Cheyenne Motley was the top hitter for the Lady Panthers with a double and two singles. Fuller provided three singles. Meg Foster hit a single.
Haller recorded the only hit for the Lady Bulldogs’ offense with a single.
