Enterprise sweeps Bassfield

The Enterprise Jackets swept a division twin bill from the Bassfield Yellowjackets Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Enterprise thumped Bassfield 13-1 at home on Tuesday and finished off the series sweep on Wednesday with a 14-1 victory in Bassfield.

The Jackets (6-2-, 4-0), coached by Cass Brister, will return to action Tuesday when they host the Loyd Star Hornets. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.

Enterprise 13, Bassfield 1 

Enterprise proved to be the dominant Jackets Tuesday night as they quickly clobbered Bassfield in the first two innings to claim a 13-1 lead. They cruised to the win in a five-inning contest.

Landon Gartman collected the win on the mound with a no-hitter. He struck out 10 batters and did not give up a walk on the night.

Tanner Waldrop powered Enterprise with two doubles. Jeffery Daniels contributed a double and a single. Hunter Richardson also hit a double. Austin Fugler, Zach Hodges and Gartman hit safely.

“Landon Gartman had a great pitching performance tonight, which really helped our tempo,” said Brister. “I thought we played really well defensively and offensively.”

Enterprise 14, Bassfield 1 

On Wednesday, the Lincoln County-based Jackets quickly took care of business.

Enterprise scored two runs each in the first, second and third innings to secure an early 6-0 lead. In the fourth and fifth innings, Enterprise exploded with an eight-run surge to push their lead to 14-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bassfield manage to score its only run.

“We got another great pitching performance today,” said Brister. “Austin Fugler did a great job on the mound. I was very happy with the way we swung the bats tonight. Overall, we are doing a lot of things right, but we still have room to improve as we start to prepare for Loyd Star next week.”

Austin Fugler collected the win on the mound with a dominating 11 strikeouts and one walk.

Hunter Richardson sparked Enterprise’s scoring at the plate with a homerun, a double and a single. Tanner Waldrop fueled the flames with a homerun and a double. London Gartman, Cade Cangemi and Marvin Butler contributed a double each. Hitting safely were Jeffery Daniels, Zach Hodges and Fugler.
