Lady Panthers cruise past Enterprise

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers beat the Enterprise Lady Jackets 8-2 Monday night in fastpitch softball action at Enterprise.
“Our girls came out in the first inning and played extremely well against a very tough Enterprise team,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “We still need to work on a few things offensively, but I am happy with the improvement we are seeing each game. Haley Speaks and Kat Wallace both had a good night at the plate.
The Lady Panthers (13-4) will return to action Thursday as they travel to Walthall County to take on the Salem Lady Wildcats. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
The Lady Jackets, coached by Charissa Burke, will be in action Tuesday as they travel to Bassfield for a big division varsity only contest, starting at 4 p.m.

The Lady Panthers dominated the first inning of action as they overpowered the Lady Jackets early to claim a 6-0 lead.
Both Enterprise and Brookhaven scored two runs each throughout the rest of the contest as the Lady Panthers prevailed.
Katherine Shell pitched the win for Brookhaven as she allowed only two runs in seven innings. Shell struck out five, walked two and gave up six hits.
Haley Speaks finished a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Lady Panthers. She singled in the first, second, and fourth innings. Kat Wallace contributed three singles. Madison Thompson provided a double. Tia Bussey hit a single.
Carlee Nations suffered the setback on the rubber for Enterprise. She allowed six runs in one-third of an inning, walked one and struck out one. Haley Nations (4K, 3BB) pitched the rest of the contest in relief.
Carlee Nations was the top hitter at the plate for the Lady Jackets with a triple. Jana Nations provided a double. Hitting safely were Haley Nations, Kinsey Dahlin, Kalyn Chemin and Abby Meredith.
