Franklin County sweeps Hazlehurst

BUDE – Franklin County senior Chris Cantrell threw a four-inning no-hitter as the FC Bulldogs collected a sweep from Region 7-3A rival Hazlehurst Tuesday night in The Swamp.
The Bulldogs won the first game by the score of 12-0 and blanked Hazlehurst by a margin of 10-0 in the second.
Cantrell kept the Indians at bay with five strikeouts in the four-inning contest.
Antonio Christmas led all FC hitters with four RBIs, while Thomas Slagle and Will Moffet each added two hits for two RBIs.
Slagle threw a gem in the second game as he notched the win with a four-strikeout performance. He only walked one batter.
L.T. Williams absorbed the loss for Hazlehurst, despite striking six batters out.
At the plate, FC sophomore shortstop Dalivan Hunt had a big game with a triple, a double, and a single for three RBIs.
Slagle, Moffet, and junior centerfielder De’Martre Collins each added two hits and two RBIs.
The Bulldogs (8-2, 4-0), coached by Brent Calcote, will resume action Saturday when they travel to Enterprise to take on the Yellow Jackets. Junior varsity action begins at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity contest at 1 p.m.
