The annual Mississippi Spring Fest and Fair will bring rides, games, food, live music and a rodeo to the Lincoln Civic Center May 4-8.

May 4 is youth night with rides, games and food from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. — armbands are $15. Originally, Canadian Christian rock band Hawk Nelson was scheduled to play at 6 p.m., but Civic Center Director Quinn Jordan said the group canceled at the last minute. Further plans for the evening are not yet finalized.

May 5, which is talent night, will have rides, from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., with armbands costing $20. There will also be a talent show at 6 p.m. Jordan said there would be cash prizes for each category.

Friday is the Tri-State Rodeo, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. Armbands will be $25, with rides lasting from 4:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

May 7, a Saturday, is the “Day at the Farm.” There will be free kids activities from 1 to 4 p.m.

“Day at the Farm will consist of animal viewing areas,” Jordan said. “We’ll have chickens and goats and pigs and horses, as well as roasted corn on the cob. There will be stations where they can learn about the hunting process. They can learn about grinding wheat and that kind of stuff.

“They’ll also have that day touch a truck where kids can go and be next to a fire truck or a police car. It’s just a neat thing for kids to come to see. All of this is free to the public.”

Armbands can be bought from 1 to 4 p.m. for $15 in honor of military and special service members. At the same time, there will also be gospel music in the multipurpose building — with David Banner appearing as a guest. The Tri-State Rodeo will also continue at 7 p.m., and there will be a Jared Layne and The Parish concert at 9 p.m.

That Sunday, the event will end with rides lasting from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m., and armbands costing $15.
