Area offers plenty to do over next month

It’s event season in Lincoln County, and there’s no shortage of festivals and activities to enjoy.
These events are a great way to enjoy the nice, warm weather and several also benefit a worthy cause. We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the best of what Brookhaven and Lincoln County have to offer. Below is a list of upcoming events.
• The last spring installment of Music & Art in Trinity Park will be Thursday at noon.
• A benefit concert in honor of Summer Conn Prestridge will take place at Trinity Park Saturday to raise money for her fight against ALS.
• The annual Spring Fest and Fair will bring rides, games, food, live music and a rodeo to the Lincoln Civic Center May 4-8.
• The Doll’s House annual 5K will be in downtown Brookhaven May 7.
• The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League will host its annual Barkfest at the Mississippi School of the Arts campus May 14. The day will feature a 5K run, live music, food, a children’s play area, a dog show and plenty of dogs ready to be adopted.
• The Hog Wild Barbecue Cook-off and Family Festival will be May 28 in downtown. The event benefits the Lincoln County Volunteer Firefighters Association. There will be vendors, entertainment and barbecue.
• The Tucker golf tournament, which benefits the Folds of Honor Foundation. will be May 27-29 at Brookhaven Country Club. Participants can enjoy golf, live music and appetizers and cocktails.
• The Lincoln County Farmers Market will get started in early June. It takes place each Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Amtrak train station and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Railroad Park.
• Girls Night Out, a ticketed shopping event complete with T-shirts, coupon books and in-store promotions, will be June 30.
