Lady Cobras edge Raleigh

RALEIGH – The Wesson Lady Cobras defeated the Raleigh Lady Lions 4-3 Tuesday night in the Class 3A state fastpitch softball playoffs.
The Lady Cobras, coached by Michelle Nunnery, will resume action today when they host the Lady Lions in the second game of the best-of-three series starting at 5:30 p.m.; if a third game is need it will immediately follow.

Trailing 2-0, the Lady Cobras battled back in the third and fourth innings, outscoring the Lady Lions 4-1 to clinch the first game victory in a seven-inning contest.
Amber Brinson was the winning pitcher for Wesson with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Alexandria Johnson suffered the loss on the rubber for Raleigh with three strikeouts and four walks.
Arie Douglas and Harmoni Ashley were the offensive leaders at the plate for the Lady Cobras with two singles each. Catherine Wilson contributed a triple. Anna Claire Crow and Amber Brinson provided a single each.
Sarah Mason directed the Lady Lions with two singles. Cara McCarty, Abby Little, Sandrea Hord and Madison Scott finished with a single each.
