Funeral services for Verdie Ruth Burnett Yarborough are Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Grace Community Church with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, May 13, 2016, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary, with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs.Yarborough, 77, of Brookhaven died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Baptist Medical Center. She was born in McCall Creek to Felix Burnett Sr. and Verdie May Thomas Burnett.

She was a homemaker, had a green thumb and loved football and basketball. She was a member of Grace Community Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Claude Edward Yarborough; three sisters, Willie Mae Thomas, Velma Grinstead and Pearlene Thomas; and brother-in-law, C.L. Henderson.

Survivors are her special loved one and companion, Leonard Thomas of Brookhaven; sons, Sammy Yarborough and wife, Theresa, of Brookhaven and Jerry Yarborough of Gulfport; daughters, Cynthia Redd and husband, Norman, of Brookhaven, Claudette Harris and husband, Christopher, of Brookhaven; brothers, Felix Burnett and L.D. Burnett, both of Brookhaven; sisters, Emma Burnett and Vertis Henderson, both of Brookhaven; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
