Police continue to search for a suspect in the death of a Lincoln County man who was killed Monday night during a fight at a McComb sports bar.

Shaun T. Wallace, 25, of 3121 Wallace Drive, Bogue Chitto, was pronounced dead by Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman, said McComb police detective Sid Boyte.

McComb Police officers and emergency personnel responded to the Upper Deck Sports Bar at 505 South Railroad Blvd. about 10:45 p.m. Monday concerning an unresponsive man who had been involved in a physical altercation, Boyte said.

Witnesses told police there was an argument between several individuals that led to a physical fight. Several Upper Deck employees and patrons tried to separate the parties who were fighting. “Several people got involved in it,” Boyte said. “They were trying to break it up.”

During the fight, Wallace was struck by a male, who fled the scene, Boyte said.

Police will not release the suspect’s name during the ongoing investigation. Wallace’s body was taken to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Boyte would not say how Wallace was killed, but said he was not beaten to death, as some media outlets reported Tuesday. “He was not beaten. He was not stabbed. He was not shot. It was a physical altercation,” he said.

Other individuals were treated for injuries during the confrontation. Jason Odom was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

“Members of the McComb Police Department are currently assisting the (Wallace) family in this time of tragedy,” Boyte said.
