Another day has come and gone and the No. 6 national seed Mississippi State Bulldogs continue to rack up accolades in what has been a season for the history books.

The standout efforts of two Diamond Dawgs, freshman Jake Mangum and ace Dakota Hudson, were rewarded with one of the highest honors in college baseball.
Hudson and Mangum were named All-Americans by Baseball America Tuesday.
Junior Dakota Hudson made the team for the second time this year after Collegiate Baseball named him a First Team All-American a week ago. The Bulldog ace is currently 9-4 this season with a 2.62 ERA.

Hudson has pitched three complete games on the year and posted 109 strikeouts.  His nine wins are the most recorded by a Bulldog pitcher since Ross Mitchell’s 13 in 2013.
Freshman Jake Mangum earned his first  All-American honor with a selection to the third team. Mangum has had an unprecedented opening to his career, posting a .418 batting average and garnering Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year in the process.

That batting average puts Mangum at fourth in the nation and leads all freshman.
The Pearl native also is the first Bulldog freshman to make the All-SEC First Team since Rafeal Palmeiro accomplished the feat in 1983.

The freshman slugger also received the 2016 C Spire Ferriss Trophy, the award given annually to the best college baseball player in the state, earlier this season.
With the regional round in the rearview Hudson, Mangum, and the Bulldogs will turn their focus to the Arizona Wildcats in the Super Regional round.
The first contest of the three-game series will be Friday at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville.
