Photo by Alex Jacks/The Brookhaven Police Department responded to a call of a large snake around the tire of a vehicle at approximately 10:15 a.m. Thursday on S. Railroad Avenue. Brookhaven Animal Control office Roxanne Norton successfully caught the grey rat snake after removing the tire from the vehicle. Animal control personnel informed bystanders that rat snakes are the most common type of snake in this area, but are not poisonous. All residents should be aware of snakes around their vehicles this time of year, Norton said.
