Funeral services for Sammie Blue, of Brookhaven, are Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Greater New Zion Church of God in Christ. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, July 15, 2016, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Blue, 39, died Sunday, July 10, 2016. He was born Jan. 12, 1977, to Sammie Anton and Kathy Blue.

Mr. Blue was known for his outgoing personality. He loved kids and sports. His favorite hobby was coaching youth softball, for which he received Coach of the Year in 2015. Mr. Blue attended Brookhaven High School.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Sammie Anton and Kathy Blue; one brother, Michael Blue; grandparents, Sam and Nicey Anton and Pinky Blue and Curtis Williams; father-in-law, John Henderson; grandmother-in-law, Modessa Lenoir; uncles, Shelton Blue, Walter Anton and Frankie Williams; one niece, A’Keira Hooks; one nephew, A’marion Lee; and one god-grandson, Caz Mitchell.

Survivors are his wife, Gayle Henderson Blue, of Brookhaven; one daughter, Alizaante Dillon, of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sons, Darrius (Munch) Mitchell, of Brookhaven, KeJarvis (Myra) Henderson, of Brookhaven and Delivente` Dillon, of New Orleans, Louisiana; mother-in-law Ruby Lenoir, of Brookhaven; three sisters, Joan (Mattie) Blue, Marlo (DeAngelanda) Blue and Alesha Lyons, all of Brookhaven; three brothers, Anthony Blue, James (LaCeta) Blue and Lebaren (Kimberly) Jones, all of Brookhaven; stepmother, Marguerite Taylor, of Jackson; aunts, Lizzie Anton, of Brookhaven, Ollie (Tom) Butler, of McComb, Coleen Sanders, of Clinton, Shelia Williams, of Vicksburg, Joyce (Larry) Rice, of Brookhaven and Sharon Byther, of Jackson; uncles, Dennis (Patsy) Williams, Michael Williams, Kenneth Williams and Richard (Cynthia) Vance, all of Brookhaven, and Abe Blue, of Virginia; five brothers-in-law, Century (Angie) Lenoir, of Brandon, David Lenoir, Robert (Linda) Henderson and John (Misty) Henderson, all of Brookhaven, and Ray McGee, of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters-in law, Rosemary Love, of Jackson, Theresa (Corey) Henderson, of Champaign, Illinois, Eydie Henderson Dix, of Ranpoul, Illinois and Renee McClain Blue, of South Carolina, one god-grandchild, Cadee Mitchell; godparents, Mary Ann Washington and Sherry Course, both of Brookhaven; long-time friend, Twana Lyons, of Jackson; his girls softball team, “Blessing Detail,” and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
