Funeral services for Sarah Lou Wright Whittington today, Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs with burial to follow in the Crystal Springs City Cemetery. Bro. Van Windom, Bro. Jimmy Bryant and Bro. David Patterson will officiate the services.

Visitation was Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church, and will continue today, Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Whittington, 89, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the Copiah Living Center in Crystal Springs. She was born on Oct. 22, 1926, in Crystal Springs to Floyd B. and Lula Bell Stone Wright.

She was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a quality control specialist at Crystal Springs Shirt Factory, and then worked for over 35 years in childcare, where the children called her “Granny Whit.” She enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
