Funeral services for Dessie Monelle Bowman will be Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Red Star Ward) in Brookhaven with burial in the Red Star Cemetery. Bishop Bruce Britt will officiate the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) today, Sept. 21, 2016, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation will also be at Red Star Ward Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.

Mrs. Bowman, 77, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born  Oct. 28, 1938, in Lincoln County to Samuel Monroe White and Mary Elizabeth McCaffery White. She enjoyed gardening and family history work. She was employed with Stahl Urban Manufacturing Company and The Potter Company. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and two stepmothers, Carrie Mae White and Myrtle White; and brother, Hollis White.

Survivors are her husband of 55 years, Harold Bowman; daughters, Tammy East and husband David, Sherry Hall and husband Brad; son, Tony Bowman and wife Becky, all of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Bridgette Menendez and husband Kevin, Craig Bowman and wife Tera, Sam East and wife Katy, Kyle Bowman and wife Melissa, Callie Smith and husband Garrett, Hunter Grice, Taylor Cray and husband Nick, and Tyler Hall; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Paxton Menendez, Collin, Caleb, Casen and Austin Kate Bowman, Gracie, Tucker and Eoin East, Layton and Lucy Bowman; sister, Lois Mason of Portage, Indiana; and a host of family and friends.
