The building, known as the old train depot, is home to the Military Memorial Museum on the south end, while the Brookhaven Recreation Department uses the north end. The depot, which sits between the train tracks and South Whitworth Avenue, was once a busy stopping point for the Illinois Central, which constructed the the Tudor-revival brick building in 1907. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
