Area farmers will soon be able to cast their votes in the county committee election, said Rebecca O. McKenzie, executive director of the Lincoln-Franklin County USDA Farm Service Agency.
The FSA county committee ballots for the Lincoln-Franklin County elections will be mailed on Nov. 7. The ballot will also contains a return mailer that voters must use, McKenzie said.
Ballots must include votes for only one candidate and must be signed in the voter signature area provided on the address label. Ballots can be mailed or delivered in person. If mailed, ballot must be postmarked by Dec. 5. The last day to vote in person is Dec. 5 at the Lincoln-Franklin County FSA office at 1395 Johnny Johnson Drive in Brookhaven.
Farmers will be eligible to vote if they are of legal voting age, have an interest in a farm and participate in any USDA Farm Service Agency program, McKenzie said.
“Returned voted ballots will be safeguarded in sealed ballot box for each local administrative area holding an election,” she said.
The ballot box will be opened to count ballots on Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln-Franklin County FSA office.
