Good luck to Lady Bobcats

The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats survived a thrilling three-game series to claim the South State title Tuesday and will play in the 1A slow-pitch state title series Saturday.

We wish coach Scott Leggett and the team the best of luck, but we doubt they’ll need it.

Bogue Chitto has some serious firepower at the plate to go with a solid defense. Junior Reagan Kirkland hit three home runs — two were grand slams — Tuesday night.

“It’s great getting back to the state championship. God has blessed me with some great girls over the years,” Leggett said. “These girls played hard and  they deserve it.”

“We are beat up a little bit, but I told them that being a champion is not easy. You have to be able to battle through some stuff,” Leggett said.

BC needed three games to clinch the South State series after losing the second game to Sebastopol 16-6. The Lady Bobcats roared back with a convincing 14-4 win in Game 3.

The Bobcats will now head to Ridgeland to face Hamilton in the 1A slow-pitch championship Saturday. Game 1 of the series will begin at 10:30 a.m.

We offer our congratulations to the Lady Bobcats and wish them well as they compete for another title. We know they will make all of Lincoln County proud.
