A Brookhaven man has died at a Jackson hospital today following a one-vehicle crash Wednesday in Pike County.

Richard Grant Case Jr., 33, died at 2 p.m. at University of Mississippi Medical Center from the injuries sustained in the wreck, said Cpl. Brandon Fortenberrry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on I-55 around the 24 mile marker.

Case, who was traveling north in a Land Rover SUV, ran off the road and struck a tree, Fortenberry said.

First responders used the Jaws of Life to get Case out of the vehicle, he said.

Case was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb first, then transferred by LifeFlight to UMMC.

The crash is under investigation by MHP.
