Brookhaven man seriously injured in Pike County crash

A Brookhaven man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday in Pike County.

Richard Grant Case, 33, was taken by LifeFlight to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Cpl. Brandon Fortenberrry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on I-55 around the 24 mile marker.

Case, who was traveling north in a Land Rover SUV, ran off the road and struck a tree, Fortenberry said.

First responders used the Jaws of Life to get Case out of the vehicle, he said.

Case was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb first, then transferred to UMMC.

The crash is under investigation by MHP.
