An account has been set up at Trustmark Bank to help a Wesson man’s pregnant wife and children after he was killed Thursday in a crash on I-55.
Shawn McLendon, 42, had left work at his construction job at the Jeff Wilson Dodge site in Brookhaven and was headed home to his wife, who is due with their son in February. He also has a 5-year-old twin daughters, an 8-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, a 14-year-old son and an adult daughter, said his older brother, Terrell McLendon.
Shawn McLendon lost control of his Chevrolet SUV and ran off the road and hit a tree, said Cpl. Eric Henry with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The accident happened just north of the Lincoln County line.
The family has been hit hard with tragic events this year.
McLendon’s stepfather, Dee Hemphill, was killed in June in a landslide at a gravel pit in Crystal Springs.
His sister’s teenage daughter, Sonya Jackson, was critically injured in a wreck in Copiah County earlier last week and died Saturday.
