Mississippi Southern District Public service Commissioner Sam Britton visited the board Monday.

“I wanted to come down here and put a face to the public service commission and also introduce myself,” Britton said.

He gave them a rundown on PSC’s duties.

“What the public service commission does is, we oversee the utilities in the state,” Britton said. “That’s a little bit of telecommunications, a little bit of electricity, water and sewer, and natural gas. We have varying degrees of control over the varying utilities. Some we a virtually no authority over, but some we have significant authority over.”
