The Loyd Star Hornets (0-1) will face the Bogue Chitto Bobcats (0-2) at home tonight at 6 p.m.

Loyd Star’s scoring average is 49 points per game, against Bogue Chitto’s average of 49.5.

The Hornets rebounded 22 times, with 10 assists and 14 steals, plus three blocks in last week’s game against Franklin County. Hornets team leaders were sophomore forward Dane Smith with 14 points and three assists, senior post Adicuz Harris with seven rebounds and two blocks, and junior guard Cade Hodges with six steals.

Bobcats head coach Mark Pitts said his focus for the season is for his team to get better as they go, to grow some, do well in district play and make it to the playoffs. “Our strength is in post play,” said Pitts, “and yet I still believe we have a bit of depth at all five positions.”

Standouts Malik Richardson and Darius Porter are doing well in early team leadership.
