Funeral services for Barbra Jewell Lofton Ezell are today, Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven with burial to follow in the McCall Creek Church of God Cemetery in McCall Creek. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bro. Bendon Ginn and Bro. Rodney Jones will  officiate the services.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive).

Mrs. Ezell, 79, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson with her loving family by her side. She was born on Dec. 13, 1936, in Wisner, Louisiana, to T. M. and Bertha Lang Byrd Lofton.

She was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church and loved teaching her Sunday School class (Dorcas) for many years. She worked for many years as a home healthcare assistant at the Franklin County Health Department and as a hostess for Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ezell enjoyed waking up early during deer season to cook breakfast for the hunters in her family and crocheting and sewing. She even made her two daughters’ wedding dresses. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents, T. M. and Bertha Lang Byrd Lofton; her husband, Irvin Ezell; two sisters; and one brother.

Survivors are her daughters, Sha Ezell Priest and husband, Mike, of Meadville, and Barbara Ezell Allred, of Brookhaven; son, Calvin Ezell and wife, Lorraine, of Brookhaven; sisters, Laura Lofton Cotton, of Baton Rouge, Lousiana, and Mable Lofton Odeneal, of Clinton; grandchildren, Brooke Priest Chisholm and husband, David, Kelly Priest Anding and husband, Dusty, Sara Ezell Ferguson, and Kimberly Allred Wallace and husband, Chancy; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers are Lee Chisholm, Dakota Chisholm, Chancy Wallace, David Chisholm, Dusty Anding, Travis Lofton, Ronnie Keene and Doug Fortenberry. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Odeneal, Rodney Blanchard, Preston Smith, Anthony Bell, Rusty Everett, Kyle Blanchard and Bro. Phil Turner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Dominic’s Hospital and Stay Home Home Health, and Margaret Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Ezell’s name may be made to: McCall Creek Church of God Cemetery Fund.
