Brookhaven Academy picks up wins in Centreville hoops

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars hit the road and picked up multiple wins Thursday night at Centreville Academy.

The BA boys prevailed 86-27 and the Lady Cougars won by a score of 45-34.

In varsity boy’s action, the Brookhaven Academy Cougars (7-2) saw five players scoring in double figures on their way to a dominant 86-27 win.

Dylan Winborne and Cade Brown each posted 19 points for BA while Dawson followed with 11 on the night.

Luke Jackson and Ethan Nations added 10 points each, rounding out the Cougar scoring leaders. Nations also had eight rebounds for the game. 

BJ Parent led Centreville Academy with eight points.

Lady Cougars win

The Lady Cougars (6-4) went on a 14-3 fourth quarter scoring run to capture the 11-point victory that was all tied up at the end of the first three quarters of play.

Jana Case led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds on the night.

Kailyn Jordan added 10 points and six boards for the Lady Cougars. Sydnie Lyons led Centreville Academy with 16 points in the loss.

Junior varsity girls

In junior varsity girl’s action, the BA JV Lady Cougars (10-1) held on to edge out a very good Centreville squad by a score of 25-19. Emily Claire Felder led the way for the Lady Cougars with seven points. Julianna Crosby and Olivia Lewis added six and five points respectively for BA.

Junior varsity boys

The BA JV Cougars (9-1) did battle with a determined Centreville club pulling away late to pick up the 38-28 win. Gavin Brogden led the Cougars with 13 points followed by Tyler Fortenberry with a nine-point effort.

In seventh grade boys action, the Cougars outlasted the Tigers in a nail-biter that wasn’t secure until the very end.

Dane Flowers drained two clutch free throws with only 12 seconds showing on the game clock to break a 21-21 tie.

A steal on the other end by the Cougar defense sealed the deal and the 23-21 win for Brookhaven Academy.
