Brookhaven Academy grabs wins at Amite School Center

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars traveled to Liberty Tuesday to play against the Amite School Center Rebels. The BA boys prevailed by a score of 51-21 and the Lady Cougars won by a score of 45-34.

In varsity boys action, the Cougars (8-2) were a bit short-handed with several players under the weather sitting out recouping.  Nonetheless, coach Josh Watts and his squad took care of business posting the convincing win.

Dylan Winborne led BA with 12 points followed by Luke Jackson and Tate Felder with eight points each.  Dawson Flowers picked up nine rebounds in his afternoon of work.  Jason McKinney led ASC with seven points.

The Lady Cougars (7-4) took a 33-15 lead into the locker room at halftime and never looked back on their way to the second win over the Lady Rebels in the past week. Jana Case paced the Lady Cougars with 17 points and four steals.  Anna Michael Smith and Kailyn Jordan each had 12 points to round out the scoring leaders.  Playmaker Sophie Wilson dished out six assist for the contest.  Sarah Booty led the Lady Rebels with eight points.

The BA JV Cougars (10-1) coasted to a 42-11 win over the Rebels behind a game-high 21 points from Tyler Fortenberry.  Britton Nelson chipped in seven points in support.

In junior varsity girls action, the BA JV Lady Cougars (10-2) struggled with a sluggish offensive afternoon of play and were not able to cover at the buzzer, dropping a close one to the Lady Rebels 13-12.  AB Warren led the Lady Cougars with six points.  Makaykla Martin added four points for BA.
