Graveside services for Elaine Langford Maxwell, of Madison, are today, Dec. 20, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery in Brookhaven. Bro. Tim Rowan will officiate. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Maxwell, 99, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Carthage, to Clell and Florence Wiggins Langford. She spent her childhood in Brookhaven, and graduated from Brookhaven High School. She married Houston Clark Maxwell in 1937. She lived several years in Houston, Texas, and Lafayette, Louisiana, before moving back to Brookhaven. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven and worked as a dental assistant and in several fields as a salesperson. She was a talented artist, beautiful lady and a doting aunt.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 23 years, Clark; a son, Milton Maxwell; two sisters; and one brother.

Survivors are her sister, Amelia Langford Martin, of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Maxwell’s name may be made to Living Services, PO Box 275, Madison, MS 39130 (a ministry which served her faithfully for 18 years).
