Funeral services for Violet Marcene Ashley Foster Matthews, of Hazlehurst, are today, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst

Visitation is today, Dec. 27, 2016, from 9 a.m. until time of service at Riverwood.

Mrs. Matthews, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Pine Crest Guest Home in Hazlehurst.

She was born Feb. 9, 1928, to Ezra Ashley and Opal Weems Ashley.

She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and was an assembler at the Potter Company.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James Matthews; and brother, E.D. Ashley.

Survivors are her son, Bob Foster and wife, Lana; daughter, Denise Beard and husband, Johnny, and Cecile Foster; four grandchildren, Shane Beard, Perry “Dug” Foster, Brandi Tucker and Maci Foster Case; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
