Tornado warning issued for northwestern Lincoln County until 9:30 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a tornado Warning for: • Southwestern Copiah County in central Mississippi • Northeastern Franklin County in southwestern Mississippi • Northwestern Lincoln County in south central Mississippi • Southeastern Jefferson County in southwestern Mississippi At 8:35 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Kirby, or 27 miles east of Natchez, moving northeast at 30 mph. It could produce tornadoes and half-dollar size hail. Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. * This dangerous storm will be near: • New Hope around 8:45 p.m. • Union Church around 9 p.m. • Pleasant Hill around 9:05 p.m. • Caseyville around 9:10 p.m. • Allen around 9:15 p.m. • Loyd Star around 9:20 p.m. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Meadville. Take precautions. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
