Lincoln Soil and Water hosts tree sale and giveaway

The Lincoln Soil and Water Conservation District will have a tree sale for the public on Feb. 24. The trees and seedlings will be sold from 7:30 a.m. until noon — or whenever they’re all gone — on a first-come, first-served basis at the Lincoln Civic Center at 1096 Belt Line Drive in Brookhaven.

Lincoln SWCD will sell ornamental seedlings and give away Loblolly pines.

The seedlings are “bare root” and vary in heights. They will be individually labeled and wrapped as purchased.

All proceeds will be used to support school programs for Conservation Camp, a poster contest and other conservation education programs.

The 2016 sale resulted in a near sell-out of seedlings and trees. Smythe Haley of the SWCD said this is one of several programs the district sponsors every year in order to give back to the community. “You can’t get trees like this just anywhere,” Haley said.
