A Loyd Star school administrator has been accused by parents of “liking” pornographic posts through an unofficial school Twitter account. Students who viewed the Twitter account were able to see images and videos from several of the Twitter accounts that were “liked” by the Twitter account, “Loyd Star Act./Ath.”

The Twitter account has been deleted, but had been a source of school news and sports scores. It was created in 2012 by Assistant Principal Billy Vaughn, according to the account’s profile page.

Lincoln County School Superintendent Mickey Myers said today that Vaughn was placed on administrative leave  Feb. 3. He could not say if the leave was without pay. He also could not say if the action was in response to the accusations.

“This is a personnel issue, which by law I cannot speak of at this time,” he said.

He said documents have been submitted to the Mississippi Department of Education and to an information technology forensics network for verification. “We have to be very meticulous,” he said.

Parents contacted The Daily Leader today and provided screenshots of the Twitter account that were brought to them by their teenage daughter.

The screenshots show that the Loyd Star account liked tweets from Twitter accounts posting pornographic images while also liking Tweets from nationally-known football coaches Bart Gregory and Chad Grier, who posted sports news and even a Bible verse from the latter. The pornographic posts were dated in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

During those years, Vaughn served as assistant principal and also athletic director and PE instructor.
