Funeral services for Theresa Conrad Bennett, of Brookhaven, are Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven. Burial will be at Holy Rudd Catholic Cemetery in New York.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2017, starting at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Bennett, 89, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, in Brookhaven. She was born in Long Island, New York, June 17, 1927, to Charles Conrad Sr. and Catharine Lutz Conrad. She was the youngest of eight children.

She joined the United States Navy during World War II and met and married Julius Leon Bennett Sr. and moved to Mississippi.

She did many things in her life. She enjoyed being a bus driver because of the kids; she also enjoyed being a security guard at the Jackson Airport. Mrs. Bennett absolutely loved crafts and decorating her home along with a true love for flowers.

She loved her family very much, along with having a tremendous heart for animals.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and six siblings.

Survivors are her children, Julius Leon Bennett Jr. and wife Becky, of Brookhaven, and Betty Ann Bennett Carter and husband Louis of Plymouth, Minnesota; one sister, Helen McLaughlin, of Mt. Morris, New York, five grandchildren, Charles Robert Bennett of Newalla, Oklahoma, Kelly and Christa Carter of Plymouth, Minnesota, John Bennett of Brookhaven and Shannon Bennett of Washington D.C.; one great- granddaughter, Ashley Bennett of Newalla, Oklahoma and a brother-in-law, David Bennett and wife Glenda of Hartford, Alabama.
