Lady Cobras win over Lady Cats 7-0
The Wesson Lady Cobras traveled to face the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats Tuesday and Wesson controlled the scoreboard and the field to take home the victory 7-0.
The win moves the Lady Cobras to 4-0 overall so far this season and the loss drops the Lady Cats to 0-3 so far.
“Even though it took us a few innings to get going offensively, we finally made it happen,” Wesson head coach Michelle Nunnery said. “Our whole goal this season is to be better at the plate. So far we have done just that, but coaches are never satisfied so we will continue to improve ourselves to prepare for the rest of the season and hopefully the playoffs. I also want to congratulate Laynee Crapps on a great game pitching.”
Eighth grade pitcher Crapps for Wesson finished the game with three strikeouts and two walks for the Lady Cobras as she dominated the game from start to finish. The Lady Cobras started slow getting hits and putting runs on the board, but found their groove in the third inning by scoring one run to take the 1-0 lead and dominated the rest of the way.
The Lady Bobcats started the game off strong setting down the Lady Cobras in order thanks to freshman pitcher Codi Leggett on the mound. Leggett finished the game with eight strikeouts and seven walks. Senior Cherie Savoie had two singles and sophomore Karly Leake had one hit.
The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats will host West Lincoln at 6:15 p.m. Friday and the Wesson Lady Cobras will host Warren Central at home Friday at 6 p.m.
