Bad weather postponed the Brookhaven Exchange Club’s Spring Fling a week, but it’s back this weekend and organizers have added an extra day of fun and food.
The Spring Fling starts today and runs through Saturday, with the park open from 6-10 p.m. nightly.
An armband costs $10, and gets the wearer unlimited turns on rides like the Ferris wheel, tilt-a-whirl and carousel.
Church youth groups, school booster clubs, athletic teams and cheerleading squads will have food booths available with lots of fair food favorites for sale. The pavilion kitchen will not be open.
The mission of the National Exchange Club is to combat child abuse. The park is operated throughout the year for various events, to raise money well for the national mission, as well as local projects in Brookhaven and around Lincoln County.
Spring Fling helps raise funds to keep the park open for these events.
Club president Greg Hoff said they added the extra day because the club meets on Thursdays and would be at the park anyway. “So we might as well start then,” Hoff said.
The National Weather Service projects clear and sunny skies today and Friday, with only a 20 percent chance of showers Saturday morning. It’s expected to be partly sunny with a high near 75 degrees in the afternoon. The evenings will be cool with temperatures hovering between lows of upper 40s to lower 50s and highs in the mid-70s.
