The Brookhaven Academy Baseball Cougars faced a tough task Tuesday evening as the district leading Columbia Academy Cougars came calling at Harold Williams Ballpark. As advertised, CA came out swinging on their way to a convincing 10-0 win.
After a scoreless first inning, Columbia got on track in the top of the second by posting seven runs on six hits and added another three runs in the top half of the fourth.
The Cougars threatened on multiple occasions with runners in scoring position, but couldn’t push runners across home plate.
“We’ve played some talented teams this year and I will have to put Columbia near the top of the list,” BA head coach Tyler Parvin said. “I expect to see them go deep into the playoffs.”
Offensively, Dawson Flowers led BA with two singles on the night. Fisher Warren, Dillon Burt and Nick Ogden rounded out the Cougars hitting with a single each.
Dawson Flowers suffered the loss on the mound for BA. Jaden Clark struck out five Columbia batters in a four-inning relief effort. Chance Forbes picked up the win for Columbia Academy.
Brookhaven Academy will return to action Tuesday as they face the Laurel Christian Lions on senior night at Harold Williams Ballpark. JV first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. followed by varsity action at 7 p.m.
