The Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce wants to see shoppers hopping to big savings during the Easter weekend.

The Brookhaven Bunny Hop and Spring Open House gets underway today and continues through Saturday.

This special shopping event is a win for everyone, said Katie Nations with the Chamber.

It’s good for shoppers because they’re able to stay local and get good deals. It’s good for merchants who ring up extra sales on the holiday weekend. And it’s good for the city because of the additional sales tax the additional sales can bring.

“Our Brookhaven Bunny Hop and Spring Open House is a reminder for our community to shop local and eat local this holiday weekend,” Nations said. “Our local retailers and restaurants are working so hard providing new products and fresh eats that would rival any larger shopping conglomerate in surrounding areas.”

Nations said the push to “Shop Local and Eat Local” helps businesses stay open.

“Shopping local and spending your money at small businesses here in Brookhaven and Lincoln County is so important,” she said. “These are the businesses that support your child’s baseball team, give to our local charities, support our local schools, sponsor our festivals to grow tourism, the list goes on. Put your money where your heart is, and that’s the Home Seekers Paradise.”

Several merchants will offer special events within their stores and restaurants during the open house, Nations said.
