State troopers are seeking the identity of a man killed early today on I-55 north when he stepped into the path of a Dodge Charger.
Cpl. Eric Henry said the man, who was killed at the scene, did not have identification.
Henry said the pedestrian was hit about 1:37 a.m. about three miles north of the Lincoln County line by the rest area just north of the Wesson exit. He said the driver, who was traveling from New Orleans to Illinois, said the man “looked like he was trying to run across the interstate.”
The driver called 911 after the pedestrian was hit, Henry said.
The man’s body will be sent to the state crime lab for possible identification.
Anyone with information is asked to call Copiah County Sheriff’s Office at 601-892-2023.
