Freshman pitcher Codi Leggett pitched a no-hitter Friday night on the road at Ethel in their 5-0 shutout win in the South State title series.

Leggett had no problem breezing through the Lady Tiger lineup, pitching all seven innings and giving up no runs on no hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.

The win on the mound gives Leggett an 18-6 overall record as the starting pitcher for the Lady Cats. The win also moves the Lady Cats one win away from another South State championship and a birth in the 1A state title series.

“We did a great job going on the road and getting the win in game one,” Bogue Chitto head coach Scott Leggett said. “Codi pitched well and her defense did a fantastic job helping her get the no-hitter. We are showing composure and confidence.”

The offense backed up Leggett with five runs on 11 hits to keep a safe distance from the Lady Tigers. Eighth grader Julianna led Bogue Chitto at the plate going 3-for-4 with three singles and two RBIS on the night. Junior Reagan Kirkland and Baileigh Jackson each went 2-for-4 with two singles. Leggett went 1-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate, adding to her stellar game.

Bogue Chitto returns home tonight to face Ethel for game two. A win tonight gives them the 1A South State title. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
