THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says the arrest of a Mississippi fugitive has led to the seizure of more than $68,000 worth of illegal drugs.
Sheriff Craig Webre, in a news release, says 36-year-old James Jones was arrested Wednesday in Galliano on a number of felony drug and weapons charges.
Weber says Jones, of Brookhaven, was arrested after receiving a report that he had threatened to harm a woman during a verbal altercation. When he was taken into custody, deputies found three bags on the ground that Jones allegedly threw from a vehicle and a fourth bag inside the car. The bags contained several types of narcotics.
Authorities say he also had several warrants in Mississippi for charges including assault on a police officer. Bond was set at $132,200.
