Denton Charles ‘Red’ Huffman

Funeral services for Denton Charles “Red” Huffman, of Natchez, are Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home Chapel, in Natchez, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mike Harrigill will officiate the services.

Visitation will be today, May 26, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue Saturday, May 27, 2017, from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Huffman, 87, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez. He was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Franklin County to Robert “Bob” Huffman and Katie Newell Huffman.

He was a wonderful husband, a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Huffman was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was employed by International Paper Company for 34 years. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He loved to read and watch Western movies. He also loved his tractor and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Robert Huffman; and two sisters, Agnes Huffman Smith Kirby and Inita Huffman Hood Stephens.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Helen Watts Huffman, of Natchez; one son, Karry Paul Huffman and wife, Sherrie, of Vidalia; two daughters, Nelda Huffman Boyd and husband, Brent, of Monterey, and Angie Huffman Calvitt and husband Kenny, of Natchez; eight grandchildren, Chris Huffman, James Huffman, Kevin Miller, Toby Miller, Danielle Martin, Jordie Huffman, Casey Steele and Kent Calvitt; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Calvitt, Brent Boyd, Toby Miller, Jordie Huffman, Kent Calvitt and Joey Knox.
