Funeral services for Harold Dean Higdon Sr., of Hazlehurst, are Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Chapel in Hazlehurst with burial at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 28, 2017, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Higdon, 84, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Forrest General Hospital.  He was a member and deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church.  He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was an inspector at USDA for 29 years.  He loved serving as charter member of Copiah Academy.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; son, Kelly Higdon; and sister, Betty Jo Bozeman.

Survivors are his son, Hal Higdon (Dawn), of Hattiesburg; daughters, Wanda Jackson (Jeff), of Winfield, Alabama, and Ramona Smith, of Wesson; and five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
