Copiah Bank wins Wesson golf classic
Copiah Bank claimed the corporate championship in Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation’s 24th annual Wesson Foundation Golf Classic held at Wolf Hollow Golf Club. The team of Jeremy Winborn, Stephen Bozeman, Warren Hood and Grant McDonniel carded an impressive 53.
Low gross was awarded to an individual team composed of Shane Easterling, Brock Campbell, Mike Wooten and Brandon Goldsmith who also shot a 53 on the day.
The Low Net title went to the team from Bank of Brookhaven. Team members Benny Nixon, Louis Midkiff, Mack Munn and Danny Smith fired a 52.7 to claim the victory.
Prizes were also awarded for closest to the pin on all four par-3 holes at Wolf Hollow. Paule Ruiter, Donnie Sasser, Jason Byrd and George Hennington claimed each of these titles.
Foundation Executive Director D.J. Preiss had nothing but praise for the successful event.
“I want to sincerely thank all our participants for their support for our tournament,” Preiss said. “For 24 years, we have been able to count on our corporate and community sponsors to make this event such a success. We will be able to put the money raised directly toward support of the college and its programs. This event would not have been possible without the hard work of many staff members from across various areas of campus, which helped create an atmosphere of fun and fellowship for our tournament participants. Ronny Ross and his staff always do a phenomenal job providing such an outstanding venue for our annual tournament, and we are fortunate to have the caliber of facilities like Wolf Hollow as a resource.”
Twenty-three teams participated in the event this year to help raise funds for the Copiah-Lincoln Foundation. The Co-Lin Foundation provides over $225,000 in scholarships to over 150 students and faculty.
