Funeral services for Velma Lee Hunter, of Wesson, are Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 3 p.m. at New Hope M.B. Church in Brookhaven with burial at the church cemetery. Williams Mortuary in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be today, July 7, 2017, from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hunter, 88, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at her residence. She was born July, 22, 1928, to Samuel David Markham and Rosie Anna Thomas Markham.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, S.Q Hunter; sister, Jessie Markham; and brother Samuel David Markham.

Survivors are her daughter, Robin Hunter, of Wesson; goddaughters, Gloria Laster, of Wesson, and Catrina Ellis, of Natchez; special friend, Ira Washington, of Brookhaven; nieces, Faye McCall, of Chicago, Illinois, and Patricia Markham, of Toledo, Ohio; nephews, Samuel Markham, of Toledo, Ohio, O.C. Markham, of Gary, Indiana, Danny Markham, of Memphis, Tennessee, and David Markham, of Indianola; and many other relatives and friends.
