Funeral services for Mary Louise Summers, of Brookhaven, are Friday, July 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven with burial at Kees Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2017, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Summers, 82, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at University Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was born May 8, 1935. She was a lifelong educator, having first been employed by the Jefferson Parish School System. She was initially as a teacher, then as a counselor and finally as a principal. She then worked for the Louisiana State Department of Education as a job-training counselor at the New Orleans Regional Technical Institute. She finished out her career in education as an evaluator for educational enhancement programs for the board of elementary and secondary education for the state of Louisiana.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Plez William Summers Sr. and Mary Josephine Lejeune Summers; brother-in-law, Henry LeRoy Dawkins; and great-niece, Sarah Summers Wardlaw.

Survivors are her brother, Plez William Summers Jr. and wife Anne and their children, Plez William Summers III and wife Amy, and children, Jordan Nations, Josie and AnnaBelle Summers; Stephanie Summers Hargett and daughter Haley Anne Hargett; sister, Dolly Summers Dawkins and her children, Julie Dawkins Wardlaw and husband Russ, and daughters, Mary Evins, Maggie and Addie Wardlaw; Lee Dawkins and wife, Trudy, and children, Colton Bradley and Carley Dawkins

Memorials can be made to the Gideons International or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
