This is Mississippi’s Tax-Free Weekend. It started Friday and ends today, so take advantage of it while you can.

For qualifying items under $100, sales tax won’t apply.

Many were already planning to buy school clothes and supplies this weekend, anyway, so there’s no better time to support Brookhaven merchants and save by not having to pay sales tax.

For those who stink at math, trying to figure out the tax on an item before buying it always causes aggravation. A tax-free shopping experience can remedy that headache, at least temporarily.

Shopping in the local air-conditioned stores  is a great way to beat the heat, support local commerce and save some money on stuff you need.

The tax-free weekend only comes around once a year, so the people of Brookhaven and Lincoln County may as well take advantage of it.
