Mrs. Fournet, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, with her family by her side in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was born Jan. 30, 1939, in Brookhaven, to Hiram Gordon Sr. and Audrey Pauline Cain.
Mrs. Fournet attended high school in Brookhaven and became a proud member of the graduating class of 1957, forming lifelong friendships with her classmates. She attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, receiving her associate degree. She continued her education throughout her life, attending Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas, and later Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, becoming a devoted Tigers fan.
She married the Elwood Bowlin of Liberty in 1960. They started a family in Port Allen, Louisiana, having two children, Jeffrey Jay and Stacy Ann Bowlin, who became the focus of her life. They relocated their family to Lake Jackson where she continued raising her children providing them with a childhood filled with love.
In 1975 she began a long career with the Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas, in their accounting department. She later transferred to the Louisiana division in Plaquemine, Louisiana, to finish out her career. She took great pleasure in being a member of many professional and social organizations, including Professional Secretaries International serving as president of the Baton Rouge chapter; the Baton Rouge Caledonian Society; the Baton Rouge Garden Club; and the Red Hat Society.
She had a passion for travel and loved to explore the world. Her extensive travels included a tour of Europe in 2000 where she saw the Passion Play, a month-long tour of Scotland to explore her heritage, and Canada where she had high tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria.
Her greatest pleasure came later with her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren. If you knew Pat, you knew all about her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments, but most recently the light of her life was her great-grandchildren Brooke, Payton and Maddox.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Jeffrey Jay Bowlin; and brothers, Hiram Gordon Cain Jr. and John P. Cain.
Survivors are her daughter, Stacy Bowlin Baggett and husband Zane Baggett of Richwood, Texas; grandsons, Jonathan Baggett and wife Tonia of Angleton, Texas, and Jeffrey Baggett of Richwood, Texas; granddaughters, Jalyn Bowlin of Alvin, Texas, and Jamie Baggett of Richwood, Texas; great-granddaughters, Brooke and Payton Baggett; great-grandson, Maddox Sambrano; brother, Walter Cain and wife Melissa of Addis, Louisiana; sisters, Alice Cain Gill and husband Robert L. of Brookhaven, and Jennifer Cain Davis and husband Robert L. of Columbia, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Bonnie Cain of Brookhaven; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family requests you join them after the service for lunch and visitation in the fellowship hall at the church.
