BA Lady Cougars pick up two wins

The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars softball team bounced back in a big way Saturday hosting a tournament held at Brookhaven Academy.
Coming into the tournament on a four-game losing streak, the Lady Cougars went 2-0-1 Saturday to move to 10-10-2 on the season.
BA 12, Columbia Academy 1
In the team’s first game of the afternoon, the Lady Cougars had no problems with rival Columbia Academy, putting up nine runs in the first two inning to later win 12-1.
Madi Smith got the start for the Lady Cougars, pitching two innings and giving up one unearned run on one hit, two walks and three strikeouts. Emily Claire Felder pitched the final inning of action and gave up no runs on one hit.
The game only lasted four innings, but all the Brookhaven Academy offense needed was two innings to get the victory.
Smith Felder, Kailyn Jordan and Jana Case each had two RBIs to lead the offense in the first game. Abeni Fuller, Madison Thompson and Julie Anna Bartram each had one RBI.
BA 3, Jackson Prep 2
In game two for Brookhaven Academy, the Lady Cougars rallied late to defeat a strong Jackson Prep team by a score of 3-2.
Jackson Prep tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run homer off Smith to tie it.
The game was tied heading into the top of the fifth inning, where Fuller drove in the eventual game-winning run on an RBI double to give the Lady Cougars the victory.
Smith pitched another good game for Brookhaven Academy, going all five innings and giving up two earned runs on four hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
Fuller and Cameron Watson each had one RBI in game two. Jordan led the team at plate going 2-for-3 with one run scored. Madison Moak also went 2-for-3.
BA 3, Adams County Christian 3
In the final game of the evening for Brookhaven Academy, the Lady Cougars played to a 3-3 draw against Adams County Christian to end the day of play.
Trailing 3-0 heading into the sixth inning, Brookhaven Academy fought back and scored three runs to force and draw and seal a 2-0-1 day in the tournament.
Felder got the start on the mound for the Lady Cougars and pitched five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
A double by Fuller and an error on a groundball from Smith got three runs on the scoreboard in the sixth to force a draw.
Smith led the Lady Cougars with two RBIs and Fuller had the other RBI in the contest.
